July 18, 2026 The bowls club at TJ Sokol Liboc organized its now-traditional (fourth annual) summer team match. This year, three teams gathered in Liboc: the “young in age” team from Liboc, the “younPřátelská soutěž s mistrovským potenciálem
For now, it’s still “just” a friendly competition, but the format, the quality of play, and the growing interest suggest that as early as next year, it could be included among the official championship competitions.
The competition itself was very interesting and also allowed for some tactical maneuvering. Each team could send its “ace” to the prestigious individual mini-competition, but some teams cleverly held back their trump cards and saved them for the multi-member team competition, where tactics and team communication play a greater role.
Jindrich Svaton dominated the competition with his performance, helping his team earn a total of seven points. His hard-fought victory in the match against Jan Létal proved to be the turning point of the entire day—it was this very duel that ultimately likely decided the somewhat unexpected overall triumph of the Liboc “young men and women.” They proved that the younger generation is no longer just “the next generation”, but a full-fledged rival for experienced players.

The Liboc Old Guard finished in second place, having improved significantly in the second half of the competition and proving that experience is still a powerful asset. Third place went to the TJ Astra ZM team—they got off to a great start with two wins in the group stage, but unfortunately, that was all.

Although it was a friendly competition, the atmosphere was clearly competitive. The players fought for every point, the spectators enjoyed the thrilling finishes, and the overall experience was made even better by the treats brought by our hostesses and “bar staff.” It was simply a wonderful day of sports, combining high-quality play with a pleasant atmosphere.
We still have a rematch tournament ahead of us—we recommend that the losers put more effort into their preparation. As for the winners, we remind them not to rest on their laurels: the highlights of the season are still ahead of us, and maintaining your form is always harder than surprising everyone.
The 2026 competitive season promises that bowls will offer many more thrilling moments.
