April 26, 2026, Liboc – The TJ Sokol Liboc bowls club hosted the ninth Czech Republic Four-Player Team Bowls Championship. A record six teams (24 players) participated in the competition—the most in the history of Czech bowls—once again confirming the sport’s appeal as an active leisure activity for everyone…
Balanced groups and shocking results in the playoffs
The group stage brought unexpectedly close matches: each team won once and lost once, so advancement was decided by score. The playoffs surprised everyone by eliminating the favorites—the team led by skip Honza Létal and the team led by skip Romana Opletalová. The semifinals were marked by a shock: the team led by skip Mark Šveda defeated the highly experienced team led by skip Craig Hurry. Thus, Šveda’s team and the TJ Astra ZM squad led by skip Ivo Hadrava advanced to the final.
A Final Full of Emotion
However, the final ended in a complete sensation! A team registered at the last minute, consisting of Marek Šveda, Slávka Vařečková, Tonda Parma, and Martin Dvořák (a complete novice—he’s only been playing bowls for a few weeks), defeated the experienced team from TJ Astra ZM led by skip Ivo Hadrava! The match was very close; the outcome wasn’t certain until the very last ball—everyone was cheering, and the joy of the winners after the final throw was truly genuine and immense! So, the silver went to Ivo Hadrava, Marek Sedlák, Radovan Šimůnek, and Radek Zukal. The bronze went to the team consisting of Craig Hurry, Radek Nečas, Jindřich, and Libor Svatoň. Heartfelt congratulations to the unexpected but very happy winners!

A Relaxing Day with Beautiful Weather
The entire competition day was once again relaxed; the weather was perfect, and despite a record number of participants, the whole event went off very smoothly and pleasantly. All the treats that were brought ended up finding their way to someone’s plate, as did drinks of all kinds and strengths. A big thank you to all the donors
